When we met up with the future of music, White Girl Mob leader Kreayshawn in Texas last month, she told us that she genuinely only listens to two things: Three 6 Mafia and Spaceghostpurrp. We had unknowingly exposed you to some music from the Miami rapper and producer back in January when he, under the name Muney Jordan, freestyled alongside the feistiest and firiest rapper on earth V-Nasty not long after she was released from Alameda County Santa Rita Jail.
But now, on the back of co-signs from Odd Future producer and DJ Syd (who played his music before a show just the other day), LA trendsetter Speakz (we suspect he might have been LA Weekly’s source in this excellent piece on SGP) and of course Kreayshawn, Spaceghost is fast becoming an internet rap phenomenon in the vein of OFWGKTA and Lil B with added heavy influences by early Triple Six Mafia sounds and spirits, which he is clearly possessed by below. His latest track ‘Captain Planet’, by any standard, is quite simply a beautiful piece of music, managing to stay both warm and cold like all the best vintage Triple Six material. You can download his NASA mixtape for free here. Enjoy.
Bonus video: Spaceghostpurrp tells us this was a tribute to Crucial Conflict.
