So if you don’t know, possibly the rarest record in the universe is on a private bidding auction at the moment over at www.raresoulman.co.uk. ‘Do I Love You’ by Frank Wilson is a massive Northern Soul floor filler, but you may know the record better from the KFC adverts from a while back. Now we don’t usually talk about the crazy prices of rare records as it makes us only part of the problem surrounding over hyping rare records. But this record is damn rare! Only 2 are known to exist, there’s a very long story to why this is, but not to go into too much detail, its to do with the artist’s employer having an argument with the artist (the boss being the head of probably the most famous label in the world by the way) resulting him smashing all the pressed up records in the plant, or so the story goes. Anyhow, to cut a long story short (this is the bit like in the Antiques Roadshow where all people are really bothered about is the price) its currently on… £24,735. Oh, and there is still a week to go!
