Drake feat. Lil Wayne – ‘Miss Me’ Video

Drake “Miss Me” from John W on Vimeo.
Still one of my fave jams from ‘Thank Me Later’ and with Minaj ridin high and Weezy returning sooner rather than later, Cash Money remain on top.

Visitors to Southern Hospitality will know how much we love us some good old Rap & Bullshit. Sometimes nothing else will do, and by sometimes we mean most of the damn time. However, especially when we’re partying with our longtime homie J.Bo who we’ve collaborated with on this mix. In fact, such an authority on Rap & B. we’re gonna let the man explain himself:
“The long overdue collaboration between J.Bo and Southern Hospitality has been a true labour of love, just over a year in the making… and even now, the only way to agree to a final tracklisting was to start planning volume 2 (and 3!) immediately. A representation of one of our favourite sub-genres of all, these are the jiggy jams that brought fun and females back to the clubs. Featuring such luminaries of the genre as Fabo, Jigga, Kells, Luda and Diddy in a musical celebration of all that is trite and trivial, frivolous and flagrant. If the Fresh Prince is still looking for “a groove that soothes and moves romance” this ‘Summertime’ then here are 22 of em. Long live “Rap & Bullshit”.”
-J-Bo
So there you have it, couldn’t have put it better myself.
Enjoy!

Once again mega-props to Superix, on not only the mixing and editing skills, but also the super-fresh artwork and all round getting this release to completion!
This record has always been dope and is now a nice addition to the now endless Weezy and Gucci visual catalogue (see below). Great to see Gucci staying front and centre since his release too, proving that he’s one of the best artists out freal.
So glad this is a single. Always my favourite cut off ‘We Are Young Money’ and definitely Minaj’s hottest verse!

Priceless The Kid hits us with yet another banger off his upcoming ‘Diamond Life The Mixtape’ project, not long after storming our Top 100 Songs Of 2009 list with the militantly mesmeric Feel Good, which really truly did what it said on the tin. Mark Priceless down as one of 2010′s ones to watch.

Game over. The ’09 Junior Mafia – (c) Rob Breezy – are showing no sign of slowing their roll. And it’s hard to overstate how big their sound is and how influential it will be on the texture and mastering of music to come. Now Wayne and Drake are a given, but Nicki? She may just be the most exciting prospect in hip-hop, rock and pop for the foreseeable future. Something strikes us that her solo shit might just send us all hurtling down a black hole where on the other side people talk in strange far-away accents.
(Will 2010 be the year of the ladies?)

Cash Money’s Memphis signing, ya boy Yo Gotti, had the clubs to the strip junts jumping with ’5 Star Chick’ and its all-star remix for the last six months, and this, perhaps the most unorthodox production he’s worked with thus far, is good reason to get fired up about fifth album ‘Live From The Kitchen’ in the first quarter next year.

‘Rebirth’/'We Are Young Money’ is going to be crazy. Cool and Dre flip their formula nicely with the Amy Holland Scarface sample and Weezy remains right out there. Bring on Dec. 21st.

Drizzy is bringing that big rap album anticipation back for real! The all-star line up kills it and that piano in Weezy’s verse is dope.

With his fourth solo album, Always Strapped, about to drop, what could possibly be better than a Young Money/Cash Money collabo to really get us fired up, as if a Birdman album needs any promotion other than the fact that it is about to exist.
And in a potentially seismic shift in rap from references about Mr Belding and Kelly Kapowski, Drake just kills it with lines like: “On records I’m Captain Hook and my new car is Rufio”.
