ilovemakonnen-selftitled-noborderMakonnen might be the worst kept secret in music, even as a relative unknown. Without question the person we’re most excited about at the moment, the Atlanta vocalist is the weirdest, most uninhibited and joyful artist we’ve heard since Chance first stepped onto the scene.

But given that most of his songs are produced by Atlanta’s rap elite (Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin, Dun Deal, DJ Spinz to name a few) and he’s been spotted around LA and his hometown with (as of last night) ASCAP writer of the year Mike Will Made It, we’re more than confident Makonnen will be flooding your feeds with his music, and reassuringly offkey visuals (one look at his Instagram feed displays an obsession with severed mannequin heads), sooner than soon.

Recent project Drink More Water 4, which features the incredible ‘Man Of The Party’ and ‘Sex, Love, Ecstasy’, is a great place to start your obsession, and new EP ‘I Love Makonnen’ is a hint at how quickly his sound is evolving.

This really is just some of the most enthralling music we’ve heard in a long time.

We truly hope you enjoy as much as we do.
