Our three-year wait for Roach’s debut album is almost over. And after touring pretty much constantly for the past 12 months having built a seriously vast and loyal fanbase up and down the west coast, there’s a welcome sense of calm surrounding the usually frantic rapper. The way Roach employs bursts of energy to accent his verses rather than simply surging non-stop feels like an artist who has matured, now knowing when to gas and when to take it off the pedal. The production, this time courtesy of Yodelay Beats, slaps as ever. And Aris Jerome behind the lens is always a good thing. But it’s always all about Roach. And ‘Bugged Out’ can’t come soon enough.
