As the world and 2011 came to a close, Montreal born and raised, Barcelona-living producer Sinjin Hawke blessed the universe with one of our absolute favourite releases of the year.

Released on the DJ Slow-fronted Brussels label Pelican Fly in December, 'The Lights' EP feels and sounds triumphant, joyful, but mostly just like the future. On opener 'Shadows', which was remixed by Squadda B (one half of Main Attrakionz), Sinjin seems to marry the musicality he might draw from his family's classical roots to his own love for more contemporary music, heard perhaps in the Block Beattaz-esque hood chants that pepper the track.

'Crystal Dust' follows bass-soaked club killer 'Like That', hitting you with the biggest drums in the world before dropping you into the piercing ocean blue of the cover art. By this point Sinjin Hawke is your new favourite producer.

'The Lights' EP is out now on Pelican Fly, available on iTunes and Beatport
