Update: You can now buy ‘Japan’ on cassette right here.
Testament to the beauty of BBC Radio 1’s ‘In New DJs We Trust’ initiative is the way a global trendsetter like Brodinski can reach past radio pluggers, find a young rap producer from Louisiana in the depths of Soundcloud and air his music on terrestrial radio, as he did with suicideyear’s Interest just over two weeks ago.
We first caught wind of the Baton Rouge producer through his remixes of The Pack, Danny Brown and Three 6 Mafia. We weren’t alone though. As revealed in an interview with AO-AO, young James Proudhomme already has something in the works with Lil Wayne and Mack Maine. And if Little Pain’s SMH (Broke Boyz Anthem) is anything to go by, there’s a lot to be excited about.
Until then, Southern Hospitality is proud to present you with suicideyear’s ‘Japan’ mixtape, plus the official video for ‘Interest’.
