Roach Gigz is one of Bay Area’s most impassioned and precise rappers, frequently found tearing through electric C-Loz beats at breakneck speed with rhymes as breathtaking and yet considered as his idol Mac Dre.
Zodiac is the little-known, very genius Canadian responsible for precisely one-third of The Weeknd‘s impassioned ‘House Of Balloons’ project, namely the Aaliyah-sampling ‘What You Need’ and Beach House-sampling ‘The Party & The Afterparty’ and ‘Loft Music’, which he crafted before current Weeknd producers Doc McKinney and Illangelo came on board and further blew the world away.
When we invited the man born Jeremy Rose to remix Roach’s Got Em Like, off his acclaimed ‘Roachy Balboa 2’ project, we didn’t expect him to tap so deeply into the artist’s very real love for under-the-counter cough mixture. But that’s exactly what Zodiac did, in this gritty, overflowing, potent reinvention: the Styrofoam Cup Session.
Pour it up and drink it in.
