The concept of the ‘Twelve 12″s’ mixes started as an idea in 2009. Like many DJs, having already switched over for many years to use MP3’s & a laptop, Rob was playing through his record crates, and basically just realised how much great music he had still had on wax. The aesthetic of jammin vinyl 12″s is still one of the greatest pleasures around and after speaking to Superix and sending him the very first Twelve 12s mix – a pretty random selection of Rob’s own personal favourites, we put it out – then put the word out for people to get involved.

We were super pleased when so many of our favourite DJs both London and around the world said they’d love to be involved and started sending us their own personal take on the ‘Twelve 12″s’ concept! Therefore we’ve had tons of killer hip-hop, and also drum n bass, pop, house mixes etc from the likes of Cosmo Baker, DJ Eleven, Ayres, Matthew Africa (R.I.P.), Spin Doctor, Chris Read, J-Squared, DJ 7L, DJ Co-Op, Hudson and loads more including many from obviously both Rob, Superix and our extended SH fam Jimmy Plates. The range of the mixes is phenomenal with so many incredible themes from all Outkast to all Premier productions to all Wu-Tang & even all AV8!

Therefore for the now much-loved Record Store Day (and in association with our good homies at www.whosampled.com) – we thought it only fitting to take over the upstairs of our favourite London place – The Social – and invite many of the people who’ve contributed these mixes to play. A celebration of vinyl records that have been such a huge part of our lives and more importantly a celebration of really great music!

See you tonight – arrive early to avoid disappointment!
