Where do we start with Oakland’s Young Gully? In our recent exclusive interview with DJ Fresh (click HERE to read about one of the west coast’s finest producers) we learned about the structure of production team The Whole Shabang.

Knowing that Young Gully is in such close proximity to people like DJ Fresh, Jamon Dru, Sneaky Mike, Face The Music and Mike Rimzo while they’re concocting the timeless sounds the crew have become known for in the Bay and beyond, you might think he’s got an unfair advantage in being able to jump on tracks fresh out the oven.

You might think that, but once you’ve heard what he does to those tracks you realise that Fresh and co would be foolish to give the productions to anyone else. We’ve said more times than absolutely necessary how hard Gully gasses a track, but actually it’s the warmth and imagery he infuses in those hard, monotonous bursts of propane that make him such a well rounded artist.

We suggest you cop the Tonite Show With Young Gully project post haste because it’s all as great as the below album opener and Gully is one of the best, rawest young talents in a town, Oakland, that’s seemingly brimming with raw, young talents. Enjoy.
