The moment Young Gully speaks you feel like you’re midway into an album. His mixtape ‘Definition Of Gas‘, easily one of the top five releases of 2010, was essentially two dozen album tracks, some freestyles and a snippet (‘Cry‘). It’s that instantly warming, gritty cinematic quality to Gully’s voice that you can’t teach or learn that puts him above the rest and shoulder to shoulder with the best. And that relentless flow, indicative of his youth, feels like he’s in a rush to get somewhere but isn’t sure of the destination, but just has a totally uncontrived urge to release all that pent up frustration and passion.

This is the first song off his debut album ‘The Ordeal’, which is coming soon. Although not soon enough. For now though, you can download his ‘Definition Of Gas’ ‘mixtape’ for free and buy his excellent DJ Fresh and The Whole Shabang-produced ‘The Tonite Show With Young Gully’ project on iTunes.
