This could so easily have undone so much of the hard work Oakland’s Young Gully has been putting in over the last year or so. Using Auto-Tune on a track now could come across as naff as affixing ‘swag’ to something before its addicting, all-caps tidal wave of a comeback, unless you use it judiciously, as on here, or are called T-Pain. Thankfully, the warmth in Gully’s voice is beefed up with a soft metallic tone here, allowing him to reveal his paranoid thoughts poignantly. Another win for Gully.
